32 years ago today (tomorrow) a legend gave a performance. These STOOGES tracks were 20+ years old then - old but not yet old enough to be timeless...yet.

RAMRODS

artist: RAMRODS (Detroit, Michigan, USA)
venue: "at a party" // Red Carpet

Short lived and under the radar Detroit group - members would later play with only slightly less under the radar acts DARK CARNIVAL and NIKKI & THE CORVETTES. The live set captured "at a party" in '77 features a STOOGES track, the tail end of "Helter Skelter" and a searing version of THE WHO's "My Generation" in addition to the band's eponymous tracks "I'm A Ramrod."

STOOGES

artist: THE STOOGES (Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA)

location: Hollywood, California, USA?
date: 1973

A notably fast set....decent sound quality, just faster than you're expecting. Damn this band was good.

STOOGES

artist: THE STOOGES (Ann Aorbor, Michigan, USA)
venue: American Theater
location: St. Louis, Missouri, USA
date: 18 August 1973
length: 53 minutes

Worth it for the radio ad tacked onto the front end of the set. Recording is admittedly raw, but this is also a document of screaming set that was delivered when I had been on the earth for less than a year. And I am not a young person. So I thank the Technical Gods and I settle into THE STOOGES. "Raw Power" is the opener, the version of "Gimme Danger" gives me chills...listen until the end please.

Very good review of this band's final recording here. Ron Asheton and Niagara from DESTROY ALL MONSTERS...it's weird to think about a band with DEAD BOYS and STOOGES members wailing away at under the radar bar shows in the '90s.

Worth it just to hear Doc snarl "Cops For Fertilizer" at a bunch of civilians. Take a minute to conceptualize this set, when and where it was recorded, and then reassess what is punk.
