DEAD BOYS

artist: DEAD BOYS (New York City, New York, USA)
venue: WNYU
location: New York City, New York, USA
date: November 1985
length: 26 minutes

HERE
Radio interview leading up to their 10th anniversary show at Irving Plaza that includes a few cuts from DEAD BOYS related acts. The second track is a borderline racist and homophobic comedy sketch between the two most famous "misters" of the '80s: Mr. T and Mr. Rogers. I have no idea if the sketch and the interview are related in any way, but they were in sequence on the tape, so there you go.

TUFF DARTS

artist: TUFF DARTS (New York City, New York, USA)
venue: CBGB's
location: New York City, New York, USA
date: ?? 1976
length: 32 minutes

HERE
Isn't it interesting how much first wave punk really does just sound like high energy rock 'n roll? Like, I'm sure these dudes probably hated Bob Seger, but listen to TUFF DARTS and tell me that they didn't all have essentially the same damn record collections and/or influences.

UNION CARBIDE PRODUCTIONS

artist: UNION CARBIDE PRODUCTIONS (Göteborg, SWEDEN)
venue: ??
location: Brussels, BELGIUM
date: 02 March 1988
length: 40 minutes

HERE
Link includes a Swedish radio broadcast interview and several tracks played on air (live and studio).  It never clicked for me how much this band sounds like STOOGES and FLUID, and in turn how much FLUID remind me of a super polished STOOGES.

CIRCLE JERKS

artist: CIRCLE JERKS (Los Angeles, California, USA)
venue: Pop Shop // Greystone Hall
location: Cleveland, Ohio // Detroit, Michigan (USA)
date: 11 November 1983 // 13 November 1983
length: 69 minutes

HERE
Two sets from the same tour.....
The Cleveland gig feels pretty low energy - crazy long gaps between songs and a borderline pathetic Keith Morris rant ("why don't you give US a fukkn break man?? We've had equipment problems tonight, we can't even fuckin' play up here because there's so many people up on the stage..." - nothing like an armchair quarterback 26 years later, right?), but they still rip. Detroit mix is a little rawer, but the band is absolute fire (check the hi-hat on "Operation" for fukk's sake). One of the best '80s North American punk/HC bands at their height.

R.Z.M.

artist: R.Z.M. (Las Vegas, Nevada, USA)
venue: ??
location: Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
date: ?? 1983
length: 34 minutes

HERE
After a somewhat embarrassing cover of "State Violence, State Control" that really just reinforces how that song is about two minutes longer than it needs to be, R.Z.M. rip through eleven tracks of high energy US hardcore. Had never heard of this band, and can find no information other than a couple of mentions in stories about '80s Las Vegas punk history.

venue: Horseshoes
location: Toronto, Ontario, CANADA
date: ?? June 1980
length: 57 minutes

HERE
Recorded for "Thursday Night Live" radio broadcast, with top notch sound quality and mix as a result. The guitar is screaming and dreamy.
