  1. Bielefeld Germany is correct. The AJZ there was the best venue in the 1980s in my opinion. I saw a lot of shows there between 1984 and 1989. I was at this show and I think they played with the German band Drowning Roses (ex Neurotic Arseholes) who were also great. MDC played the AJZ three days before and were surprisingly good. It was the last time I saw MDC.

  2. Yup - same show (DROWNING ROSES are on the other side of the tape).
Thanks for the confirmation on AJZ (it's a generic name of course, and I've played them in other cities...but Bielefeld is definitely one of the most famous, and still one of the best (in the '00s).

  3. I got all those AJZ Bielefeld tapes from Thorsten Makuzic (forget the spelling)who taped them off the board. He had a huge list and I believe every show there between 1985-1987 was recorded off the board. The guy that did the sound there had worked sound for Deep Purple and Richie Blackmore in the 1970s I was told. In the 1980s I was to some of the other famous venues around Europe - Virus, Victor Charlie, EMMA, Van Hall, Blitz, Ungdomshuset - and even though all those venues were more suited for music purposes (AJZ was an L-shaped room with a building support column right in front of the stage) AJZ had the charm. I could be sentimantal, though, because the AJZ Bielefeld was the first place I saw a Punk show in Europe and it was a blinder = Declino/Negazione/Svart Framtid/Disorder. Still one of the best shows I've ever seen.
